One would think points are going to be at a premium in the Jets vs Patriots matchup on Sunday. That’s not just because both of these teams are defensive oriented with a middle-of-the pack or worse offense, but also due to forecasts calling for temperatures in the 30s as a cold front moves through the Northeast.

Before Betting on Jets vs Patriots

Both the 6-3 Jets and the 5-4 Patriots are coming off their bye last weekend. The AFC East is tough this season, with New York and Buffalo tied behind 7-3 Miami but the Patriots right in the hunt as well. New England had won four of five heading into their bye, including a 22-17 win over these Jets at MetLife Stadium in week 8.

The Jets’ loss to New England two weeks ago was their 13th straight in the head to head series. The Patriots are staying tight in the division race, but there are some who are wondering if their 5-4 record is a mirage because other than the Jets New England has beaten Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, and Indianapolis who are all sub .500 teams.

The loss to the Patriots in week 8 was disappointing for New York, but they had won four straight prior to that and did bounce back with a 20-17 win over the Bills in week 9. With a 40-17 win over Miami this season as well, the Jets can take sole possession of 1st place in the AFC East with a victory on Sunday in Foxborough.

Jets vs Patriots Prediction & Pick

The Jets are the better team here, they’ve got a top 10 defense and a decent running game even with rookie Breece Hall done for the year with a knee injury. That being said you can’t discount the winning streak New England has in this season or the advantage Bill Belichick has with an extra week to prepare a defensive game plan against young New York QB Zach Wilson.

Pick: Patriots -3.5
