It’s the same old story for the Kansas City Chiefs, who will be making their sixth straight AFC Championship appearance on Sunday. The only difference between the previous five is that K.C. is on the road this time, with a tough task to a Super Bowl repeat having to go through the top seeded Baltimore Ravens at what should be a raucous M&T Bank Stadium.
Before Betting on Chiefs vs Baltimore
The quarterbacks are the top story in this game with last year’s MVP Patrick Mahomes going toe to toe with this year’s likely MVP Lamar Jackson. Both have been great this postseason, with Mahomes throwing 3 TDs and 0 INTs in wins over the Dolphins and Bills while Jackson had 2 TD passes and 2 TD runs as the Ravens dispersed the Texans 34-10 last week.
Mahomes is 13-3 in the playoffs as a starter, but last week’s visit to Buffalo was his first ever road playoff game. Jackson, also the 2019 MVP, had a big obstacle to overcome last week as well as he had never led Baltimore out of the divisional round but now that those two milestones for these elite QBs have been conquered this should be an all out brawl.
Of course this game will come down to more than just the QBs, but these two clubs are equal in nearly every other area as well. The Chiefs have an improved defense this year that ranks #2 in total yards (289.8) and points allowed (17.3) but Baltimore is #1 in points allowed (16.5). Travis Kelce is one of the top TE’s in the league who had 2 TD catches last week, but the Ravens get their stud TE back as Mark Andrews is set to return from an ankle injury.
