The top two picks in the 2021 NFL Draft go head to head on Thursday night when Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars visit Zach Wilson and the New York Jets on the short week. Jacksonville (6-8) has been enamored with their #1 pick Lawrence as they control their own destiny a game back from Tennessee in the AFC South. The Jets have the better record of the two teams at 7-7, but they’ve already had to bench Wilson a couple times and he’s playing only because of an injury.

Before Betting on Jaguars vs Jets

Jacksonville is in a tough spot on Thursday night, having to make a quick turnaround after an emotional come-from-behind 40-34 OT victory over Dallas last week. The Jaguars beat division leading Tennessee 36-22 the week prior, and finish the year at home vs. the Titans but first they cannot overlook New York.

Lawrence has really found his groove down the stretch in new coach Doug Pederson’s offense. Lawrence threw four TDs vs. the Cowboys a week after tossing three on the road at Tennessee, so the former #1 pick looks to be on the right path to stardom. The Jets do have a good defense though, ranking #3 in total yards allowed including #4 vs. the pass (193.9 ypg).

Wilson played arguably well enough for the Jets to win last week as he threw for 317 yards and 2 TDs (and an INT). You would have liked more points in the 20-17 loss to Detroit though, and New York is sinking overall with losses in four of their last five.

Jaguars vs Jets Prediction & Pick

This line is screaming to take the Jets. The Jaguars’ come-from-behind win over Dallas and victories in three of the last four are fresh in everybody’s minds, yet Jacksonville is getting +2 points against a team that has lost three in a row? It looks like Wilson gets some sort of redemption here just based on the numbers.
