The Washington Commanders (7-5) can pull out of last place in the NFC East for the first time this season if they can pick up a win Sunday against the New York Giants (7-4). This is a tale of two teams moving in opposite directions, with Washington starting their season 1-4 and going 6-1 since while the Giants have lost 3 of 4 following their red hot 6-1 opening to the year.

Before Betting on Commanders vs Giants

Some would say a few of the wins Washington has had on their current run was against tomato can teams like the 12-7 win over the Bears or beating the likes of Indianapolis (17-16), Houston (23-10), Atlanta (19-13), or even Green Bay for that matter (23-21). A 32-21 win in Philadelphia shows that this team is for real.

Washington has put together this win streak with Taylor Heinicke replacing Carson Wentz at QB, but really it’s been the RBs that have spurned this success. Rookie Brian Robinson had the first 100+ yard game of his career last week against Atlanta while Antonio Gibson added 44 yards and a score last week vs the Falcons. The Giants have one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL allowing 138.9 ypg.

While the Washington running game is starting to flourish, the Giants’ is a shell of what it was earlier in the year with Saquon Barkley carrying the ball just 11 times for 39 yards last week against Dallas. Barkley had just 15 carries for 22 yards the week before in a loss to the Lions so New York is putting a lot of pressure on their 28th ranked passing game (180.3 ypg).

Commanders vs Giants Prediction & Pick

One thing to note here is that the Giants do have some extra rest which is one benefit of playing on the Thursday Thanksgiving game. The line has dipped as low as a point at BetUS which seems incredibly low. This is the kind of home-dog-in-a-division-game that should probably be a play on New York getting the +2.5, but they just looked so bad a couple weeks ago against Detroit and the Giants’ only win in the last month came by one score against lowly Houston.
Pick: Commanders -1
