Before Betting on Mets vs Padres June 8

The New York Mets and San Diego Padres head into the rubber match of their series at Petco Park on Wednesday night. New York was able to take the opener 11-5 on Monday night, but appear to have used up all their offense in that game, falling 7-0 on Tuesday.

The Padres are going to be favorites across the offshore sportsbooks on Wednesday as they are 4-1 in their last 5 overall. The books are taking into account that San Diego starter Sean Manea (2-3, 3.77 ERA) has turned things around after allowing just 1 ER over 6.0 IP against the Brewers last time out. Manaea had allowed at least 3 ER in six starts prior however, and the Mets are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. left-hand starters.

New York could have some underdog value with Chris Bassitt (4-3, 3.74 ERA) on the hill. The big issue for the Mets though is injuries, as Pete Alonso left Tuesday’s game after getting hit in the hand by a Yu Darvish pitch and Starling Marte (quad) could also not finish the 7-0 New York victory.

The offshore odds seem pretty determined that this one is going to be a pitching duel, with no variance from the 7 on the total. Bovada and MyBookie have San Diego a little pricier in this one as well.

Bassitt vs. Manaea may seem like a pitcher’s duel on paper, but they’ve both had their struggles this season and Bassitt even gave up 8 ER in a recent West Coast outing against San Francisco. These sportsbooks may regret setting the Mets vs Padres June 8 run total to 7 as this one looks like it should go ‘over.’
