Before Betting on Twins vs Dodgers Aug 10

The AL Central looks like it’s going to be a dogfight for the rest of the Summer, so the Minnesota Twins shouldn’t worry too much about what has been a rough start to their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. L.A. picked up a 10-3 victory over Minnesota on Tuesday night for their ninth straight win, all by two runs or more. Even so, the Twins playing sub .500 ball in June and July has finally knocked them out of sole position of the division lead which they’ve had for the previous 91 days.

The Dodgers were a huge -248 favorite on the offshore odds for the series opener in a Julio Urias vs. Joe Ryan pitching matchup. The number has dropped a bit for game two, suggesting the Twins may put up more of a fight on Wednesday night.

Sonny Gray (6-3, 3.19 ERA) pitches for Minnesota in the Twins vs Dodgers matchup up against Ryan Pepiot (1-0, 2.76 ERA). Gray has allowed just 2ER total over his last three starts, while Pepiot his making just his fifth start in the majors.

The Dodgers belted out 15 hits on Tuesday, with Will Smith leading the way in a 3-5 night. Smith is hitting .500 in his past five games and Mookie Betts is batting at a .429 clip over the past week as well. Byron Buxton had a 2-run HR for the Twins in the series opener, but he and Carlos Correa are both hitting below .250 over the past week.

The Dodgers are on a run right now but Minnesota seems to have the pitching edge in Wednesday night’s matchup. Los Angeles has value each and every night they play though, and the Twins have lost five of their last six road games.
