The main event at the UFC 289 is the ladies’ bantamweight title bout between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana.

Before Betting on Nunes vs. Aldana

Amanda Nunes was supposed to meet her big rival, Julianna Pena, who had to withdraw due to an injury. Aldana jumped in as the replacement and now has a chance to reach gold. Though, that won’t be easy at all, with Nunes being one of the best female MMA figures in the history of the sport.

She holds two divisions, currently the UFC featherweight champion alongside the bantamweight. Nunes had 12 wins in a row before losing to Julianna Penna at the UFC 269, but she did repay her debts against the same rival at the UFC 277 when she confidently beat the Venezuelan.

On the other side is Aldana. So far, her record is 14 wins and six defeats, coming into this battle with back-to-back KO victories against Yana Kunitskaya and Macy Chiasson. Aldana had only one defeat in the previous five contests, against Holly Holm, via decision in 2020.

Aldana is a kick-boxer whose combinations are rational, precise, and quick. She has some problems with overexposing, but she can eat a punch very well. We will see how she responds to dirty boxing and wrestling coming from the other side.

The Lioness is the favorite here, and even though she had trouble against Pena and her striking, this time, she probably has a game plan on how to minimize danger in those situations. Nunes is the best fighter in the division, and we expect her to win.
