Georgia (12-0) is headed to the CFP regardless of what happens in the SEC Championship game, so is it possible UGA has a bit of a letdown here? That’s what we saw from LSU (9-3) last week when they had already clinched their spot in the title game and thus laid an egg in a 38-23 loss to Texas A&M. Depending on how things shake out with other teams, if LSU pulls off the upset Saturday that defeat to the Aggies may have cost them their own berth in the final four.

Before Betting on the SEC Championship Game

Georgia has once again been dominant in every facet of the game this season. Their defense is once again #1 in points allowed 11.3 and rushing yards given up (79.5) while the Bulldogs offense is 8th in the country in total yards (488.8).

It’s a longshot, but with USC losing to Utah in the PAC 12 Championship Game, Georgia QB Stetson Bennett may work his way up to a Heisman finalist or even favorite. It’s hard to match Trojans QB Caleb Williams’ numbers, but something has to be said for Bennett going 23-1 as a starter over the last two seasons.

LSU was a -10 point favorite in their trip to Texas A&M last week so the loss to the 5-7 Aggies was a weird one. A&M racked up 274 yards in that contest – about 130 more than LSU has been giving up all season. That’s something that needs to get shored up before facing Georgia’s 203.3 rush ypg offense.

SEC Championship Game Prediction & Pick

Five of Georgia’s last seven wins have been by -17.5 or more, Saturday afternoon’s point spread. This is a neutral site game in Atlanta, but both teams are going to be very well represented. LSU’s big loss last week is concerning, but they were obviously looking ahead to this matchup and with an electric QB in Jayden Daniels the Tigers should be able to keep this one within 2 TDs.
Pick: LSU +17.5
