Germany After Revenge

The English side stopped the Germans in the semis of the last EURO. For sure, there is a huge motive for the hosts to beat England, besides a great rivalry and support from the stands. Also, playing 1-1 in Italy will force the Germans to be more aggressive than usual.

They were behind at one point but came back, and even had a chance to score one more goal to flip the result upside down completely. The game in Bologna was the 10th in a row for this unit which they haven’t lost.

Eight of them were wins, and all were one after another. Then, Germany visited the Netherlands for a friendly international that ended 1-1, and the next event was in Italy.

England Searching Its Form

The English unit wasn’t confident at all against Hungary. Furthermore, they looked pretty pale throughout the entire contest, apart from the opening few minutes. Whether was this because they underestimated the Hungarians, whom they smashed 0-4 in October 2021, or something else, we can’t quite tell, but the thing is that England didn’t play well.

Prior to the game in Budapest, the Three Lions lost only once in 23 events, and that was the EURO finals against Italy. Their two international clashes against Ivory Coast, 3-0 and Switzerland, 2-1, were during March, and back then, England was looking solid.

Regarding statistics, the notable thing is that four ended with just one team scoring in the last five events, and overall, England usually protects its net very well. Southgate’s primary concern is to close all the paths toward his goal and only then attack.

Head to Head Games

England won 2-0 in the most recent meeting at the EURO. Kane and Sterling scored goals. Prior to that, we saw them meeting four times since 2013, all in friendly international games, with just one ending with over 2.5 goals and with both teams to score.

Germany vs England Prediction

This will be a very tough game to predict, and we believe in watching as well. England’s tactics are already known, and that is a strong defense, fast transition, and stalking for some chance to score from a set-piece, while on the other side, the Germans will take the possession of the ball and cautiously try to find a gap in the rival’s defense. That is why we predict low efficiency, meaning under 2.5 goals for this event.

Pick: Under 2.5 goals
