The race for the Premier League title continues this weekend, as Manchester City take to the field before Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s side will be in action at St Mary’s in the late game on Saturday, as they look to pick up maximum points against Southampton. But, can the visitors secure the maximum points they require to keep pace with the Gunners?

Before Betting On Southampton vs Man City

Manchester City’s recent form has been extremely strong, as they come into this fixture looking to record a fifth straight league win. They were excellent in their previous match, as they registered maximum points at the Etihad with a comfortable win over Liverpool. However, they remain eight points off the top of the standings with ten games of the season left to play.

City appears to be hitting their stride at this late stage of the season, as their current four-game winning sequence is their longest winning run of the season. However, they haven’t won five on the bounce since May 2022. Still, City’s record against Southampton away from home is very strong, as they have recorded victories in four of their previous six trips to St Mary’s.

However, one area for confidence for the Saints would be the fact that this exact fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw. But, Southampton has still recorded just one win in their previous 13 matches against City, with their 1-0 win coming during the COVID-19 season.

Ruben Selles has certainly got a response from the players, as the Saints had won two of their three matches under the new coach. However, that run has been negative over their previous four, as they have lost twice over that period, and have failed to score in three of the matches that they have played.

This is a big game at both ends of the Premier League standings, but the odds and trends would point to a clear victory for the away side. We struggle to see anything other than a victory for City on the South Coast this weekend.
