UFC returns this weekend, bringing action in the lightweight division, as the star on the rise, Sodiq Yusuff, takes on one of the veterans of the sport, Edson Barboza.

Before Betting on Yusuff vs. Barboza

Yusuff holds a 6-1 record in the UFC, losing only to Arnold Allen in 2021. It was a unanimous decision defeat, with the Nigerian recovering after that, beating Alex Caceres and Don Shainis. He currently holds a record of 13 victories and two losses, six wins via KO, one on the ground and six via decision.

The Nigerian is a solid striker who knows how to land some vicious hits. After all, his record suggests he’s better on feet than on the ground. Though, we can’t underestimate his wrestling because the last win he posted came following a guillotine choke.

Barboza is a veteran of the sport and one of the guys who is known even to those who aren’t that into MMA. The Brazilian has 37 years and plenty of high-profile fights behind. Over the past few years, his record had been largely destroyed, and he now sits at 23 wins and 11 losses, of which five came in the previous eight battles.

A superior striker with a long and athletic frame, Barboza has knocked out his rivals on 14 appearances in the ring. Some of the names he sent to the lalaland were Beneil Dariush, Anthony Pettis, Paul Felder, Bobby Green. However, that happened seven or eight years ago.

Yusuff’s striking game will be heavily challenged because he has a four-inch shorter reach than Barboza, who is experienced enough to exploit that advantage. His reflexes may be a bit slower than in the past, but still, he knows how to behave in these situations, which is why we picked him to add another victory to his tally.
