Sure it was only three games into the season, but the Jazz were in first place when they handed the Pelicans a 122-121 OT defeat back on October 23rd. Now the roles – and the stadiums – are reversed as New Orleans is atop the Western Conference at 18-8 as they head to Salt Lake City on Tuesday night.

Before Betting on Pelicans vs Jazz

The Jazz (15-14) would seem to be getting New Orleans at an opportune time here as they could be in a letdown spot after consecutive defeats over last year’s Western Conference regular season champions the Suns. The Pelicans have won seven in a row, but six of those have come on their own court.

What’s not opportune for Utah is their injury report, as Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Mike Conley, and Jordan Clarkson are all questionable on Tuesday for various ailments / illnesses. Four players had at least 18 points in Saturday’s 115-110 loss at Denver, so maybe at the very least the Jazz are finding their depth right now – and it looks like perhaps three of those players that missed the Nuggets game are returning:

New Orleans has fought through some injuries of their own, namely Brandon Ingram (toe) not playing since November 25th. Coincidentally that was also the day of the Pelicans last loss as they have rattled off seven straight wins without him mostly on the back of Zion Williamson who just went for 35 points in back to back games against the Suns.

Pelicans vs Jazz Prediction & Pick

The line may move more of New Orleans way closer to the late tip-off, but early this looks like a trap on the Pelicans especially at just -2 at Pinnacle. New Orleans is the darling of the NBA right now with their win streak and Williamson getting on the MVP watch list – so why are they favored by just a bucket? The line says take the Jazz.
Pick: Jazz +3 (MyBookie)
