It will certainly be a summer of rebuilding at Stamford Bridge, as Todd Boehly’s first season in charge of the Blues was an unmitigated disaster. Chelsea overspent in the transfer window, and a fresh tactic will be applied this summer, as the Blues look to balance their books. A number of stars will be set to depart the club, including Mason Mount, who looks set to join Manchester United.

Pochettino is the third managerial appointment made by Boehly after arriving at the club last summer. Graham Potter’s disappointing spell in charge ended early in 2023, but Frank Lampard was also not able to get a tune out of the players, as they ended the campaign in the bottom half of the standings.

Pochettino is certainly a smart appointment, as the Argentinean did an excellent job during his spell with Tottenham Hotspur. He led the club to a first Champions League final, and securing Champions League qualification was achieved in the majority of the seasons that he spent in North London.

His ability to work with young players will give him an excellent chance of succeeding at Chelsea, but he will also need to gain positive results from his first days in the job. We could see the Blues being much more competitive next season, meaning that we would be surprised if Pochettino isn’t still the manager of the Stamford Bridge club on the final day of the 2023-24 season.
