A humbling weekend for Chelsea means that Mauricio Pochettino will come into this tie in the fifth round of the FA Cup under increasing pressure. The Blues will be heavily expected to reach the next round of the competition, but Leeds come into the tie in consistent form in the Championship.

Before Betting On Chelsea vs Leeds

Chelsea allowed their best chance of a trophy this season to slip through their finger tips after they suffered a 1-0 loss at Wembley against a weakened Liverpool side in the EFL Cup final. The game was there for the taking for the Blues, but they lacked quality in the final third of the field to take their chance against a youthful Liverpool side.

Chelsea and Leeds previously collided in the FA Cup in the 1970 final, with the Blues landing victory in a replay. Meanwhile, the Blues have never lost in eight FA Cup clashes against the Whites, landing five victories with three matches ending in draws.

Leeds should be the more confidence of these two sides coming into this tie after winning each of their last eight in the Championship. However, the Whites have suffered defeats in each of their last six visits to Stamford Bridge. All those defeats have come between 2002 and 2023, with their last win coming in December 1999.

However, Chelsea have a fine record in the competition after progressing from 13 of their last 15 ties in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Enzo Fernandez could be a player to watch this week, as the midfielder has netted in each of the last two rounds for Chelsea.

Chelsea’s inabilities in the final third of the field were clear for all to see in their cup final defeat against Liverpool on Sunday. They could be vulnerable in this tie against a free-flowing Leeds side, meaning that the preference is for the visitors to progress.
