The Chippewas (5-4) have the edge in the standings, but it’s WMU (3-6) that is a somewhat surprising field goal favorite in the Central Michigan vs Western Michigan matchup as the two teams battle for the Victory Cannon.

Before Betting on Central Michigan vs Western Michigan

Tuesday’s game is the 95th meeting between CMU and WMU and the 16th for the Victory Cannon Trophy. Since both teams have also already beaten fellow in-state rival Eastern Michigan this season, the winner gets the Michigan MAC Trophy that the three schools play for annually.

Central Michigan needs one more win to get bowl eligible, but they’ve also been atrocious on the road this season with a 1-4 record away from Mt. Pleasant. Chippewas coach Jim McElwain has gone just 1-3 against the Broncos during his tenure with the team, and last week CMU gave up 506 yards of offense even though they beat Northern Illinois 37-31.

The Central Michigan defense can be gotten to, but can Western Michigan hold up their end of the bargain? The Broncos put 45 points on the board last week against Eastern behind 252 yards on the ground while also holding EMU to 28 yards on the ground on 23 attempts. That’s the kind of war of attrition in the trenches that has WMU the favorite on Tuesday night.

Central Michigan vs Western Michigan Week 11 Prediction & Pick

Even though last year’s contest was a hard fought 12-10 win in the snow from Western Michigan, this still looks like a game where you give the points. WMU has won 9 of the last 12 in the series and Central Michigan has been very bad on the road this year.

Pick: Western Michigan -3
