Both Barcelona and Sevilla have Champions League challenges next mid-week, so they have to play their La Liga game earlier, this Friday night.

Before Betting on Barcelona vs. Sevilla

Aside from the season opener, Barcelona has been exceptional in all of their other matches. They had a six-game winning streak leading up to their trip to Mallorca, with their victories over Betis and Antwerp in the UEFA Champions League being particularly impressive (both 5-0).

This team is hard to break, and we’ve seen their mental grit against Celta, overturning a 0-2 deficit to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory in the last 15 minutes of the game. A 2-2 tie in Mallorca simply happened due to a harsh schedule, and it can’t and won’t diminish Barca’s results this season.

On the other hand, Rojoblancos started the year slowly, suffering four consecutive defeats, including a loss to Manchester City in the UEFA Super Cup. They had the lead in that event but eventually failed to keep it and lost via penalties. Each of these events saw both teams netting.

However, a 5-1 victory over Almeria this Tuesday night was something that could be a turning point of the year for Mendilibar’s crew. Rojoblancos were furious against the rivals, packing three goals in the opening 45 minutes. Previously, we’ve seen them posting three in a row in which they didn’t lose – win over Las Palmas and ties vs. Lens in the Champions League and Osasuna in La Liga.

The hosts are big favorites, although they might be a bit tired. Barcelona’s depth is not as extensive as in the past, but when you look at the overall picture, Sevilla is in the same, maybe even worse position. Blaugrana’s quality is at a higher level, they will have the home-court edge, and all this should provide an easy win for the hosts.
