Eastern Michigan has one bowl win in program history, 30-27 against none other than the opponents they meet on Tuesday, San Jose State in the 1987 California Bowl. Otherwise the Eagles are 1-5 in bowl games including last year’s 56-20 loss to Liberty in the LendingTree Bowl. While revenge from the loss from 35 years ago might not be on the top of SJSU’s minds, this is also a program that plays postseason games sparingly going 4-1 in five bowls since 1990.

Eastern Michigan has the talent to end a three decade bowl drought, having a 1,000+ yard rusher in Samson Evans and the defensive MVP of the MAC in Jose Ramirez who had 12 sacks. The Eagles finished the season strong with wins in three of their last four, and they beat both in-state rivals Central Michigan (38-19) and Western Michigan (45-23).
Tuesday’s Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is played in Boise, who just so happens to be in San Jose State’s conference.
