New York held a 12-point advantage through three quarters, but the game was far from over. Atlanta rallied in the final frame to pull ahead for the first time in the second half, and led 107-106 after CJ McCollum missed a pair of free throws. Fortunately, Mikal Bridges’ jumper was off the mark as the buzzer expired, enabling the road team to escape with an improbable win.
McCollum scored a team-high 32 points, along with six assists and three rebounds. Jonathan Kuminga spearheaded the second unit’s scoring with 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field.
On the other side, six players reached double figures for New York. Jalen Brunson led the way with 29 points and seven assists. Karl-Anthony Towns added 18 points and eight rebounds.
Will the Hawks build on their momentum to take a 2-1 lead, or can New York respond with a road win?
