Mercury Trying to Salvage Season
The Mercury are off to a 5-13 start the season, a shockingly poor start following last season's trip to the WNBA Finals. Departures of some key players such as Satou Sabally and an aging core have put Phoenix in a precarious position. It's not too late to turn the season around, but they may also start thinking about what veteran assets they can turn into draft capital for what will be stacked drafts upcoming in 2027 and 2028.
Fever Seeking Back-to-Back Wins
After dropping two games in a row to the Dream, Indiana returned home for a 2-game set against the Mercury. They won the first matchup by 9 points, posting one of their strongest defensive showings of the season. The Fever and Caitlin Clark have had an inconsistent start to the season, but they once again seemed poised to make a run for a playoff spot after a 10-7 start. They'll seek to dispatch Phoenix once again here.
Mercury vs Fever WNBA Pick
Based on how the Mercury have been playing lately, it's hard to imagine a path to victory for them on the road in Indiana. They led 19-6 after the first quarter in the previous matchup, but got outscored 65-33 in the next two quarters before eventually losing by nine points. Expect less of a hot start for Phoenix in this one, as the Fever should jump out to an early lead and hold it from wire to wire as they improve to 11-7.
