The game was close through three quarters, with the Dream leading 59-53. But Atlanta pulled away for good, outscoring the Fire 27-13 in the fourth, which included a 9-0 surge to begin the period.
Angel Reese powered the offense with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. Naz Hillmon added 14 points, seven boards, and four dimes, while Rhyne Howard contributed 14 points and six steals.
The Dream won the rebounding battle 29-23; held a 42-30 edge in the paint and scored 33 points off 28 Portland turnovers.
Connecticut edged the Sparks behind Morrow's double-double and Lacan's return
Following an 80-78 win over Chicago on May 20, the Sun dropped their next three games. Fortunately, they were able to halt their skid with an 84-81 victory against the Los Angeles Sparks.
Fast forwarding to the fourth quarter, Connecticut held the Sparks without a field goal for nearly seven minutes. But a 3-pointer from Rae Burrell trimmed Connecticut's lead to two points (81-79) with 52 seconds left to play. Thankfully, the home team remained composed down the stretch and held on for a narrow win.
Aneesah Morrow led four double-digit scorers with a 17-point, 14-rebound effort, marking her fourth consecutive game with a double-double. She leads the league with seven. Leila Lacan scored 12 points in her season debut, and Kennedy Burke led the bench unit with 14 points.
