Toluca bidding to win first CONCACAF Champions Cup since 2003
Tigres UANL aiming to win the competition for the second time
One of the biggest matches in North America is set for May 30, as Liga MX rivals Toluca and Tigres UANL collide in the CONCACAF Champions Cup final.
Both teams have previous experience of winning the competition, but both will also be aiming to bounce back after suffering recent defeats in the final.

Toluca will be dreaming of a third win in the CONCACAF Champions Cup this weekend, while at the same time banishing ghosts of their defeat in the final in 2013-14.
The Liga MX team have been one of the most dominant forces in the competition this season, winning all three of their matches comfortably on aggregate. In the previous round, they eased past LAFC, securing a 4-0 home win, and recording a 2-1 victory on the road. Paulinho has been one of the standout attackers in this season’s competition, netting a tournament-high of eight goals.

Tigres UANL will be hoping to win the CONCACAF Champions Cup for the second time in their history. Their most recent win came back in 2020, ending a run of three straight defeats in the final between 2016 and 2019.
Unlike Toluca, UANL entered the competition in the opening round, but they eased to a 4-1 win over Forge FC. Since then, they have overcome three different MLS teams, beating FC Cincinnati, the Seattle Sounders, and Nashville. Rodrigo Aguirre is the team’s most important player, as he has scored four goals in eight games.

Toluca have been the standout team in this season’s CONCACAF Champions Cup. Their attacking quality could prove crucial on Saturday, and it is also hard to overlook that they have won 62% of their home matches in 2025-26.
