The Lions have gone beyond being a good NFL team that wins games they should win. They are now winning games they should lose as evidenced by their comeback win in Houston in Week 10.
The Jaguars are having an awful season. Although they held Minnesota to 12 points in Week 10, they were without starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence and could not score more than seven themselves, losing their third straight.
Head-to-head, Detroit has won five of their eight meetings.

Trevor Lawrence Remains Out For Jacksonville
Jacksonville continued its nightmarish season in Week 10’s loss to Minnesota. The Vikings played terribly with quarterback Sam Darnold throwing three interceptions, and scoring only 12 points. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, they could not muster more than a first-quarter touchdown on backup quarterback Mac Jones’ one-yard run.
Jones was predictably inept, going 14 for 22 with 111 yards passing and two interceptions. Their quarterback problems will persist as Trevor Lawrence remains out with a shoulder injury. Their season is reaching the depths where it makes no sense for Lawrence to set foot on the field again this year.
The Jaguars are at or near the bottom of the league in every meaningful category. Without Lawrence, they have very little chance of being competitive against Detroit.
Detroit Showed Its Mettle in Houston
In Week 10, the Lions fell behind a solid Houston team 23-7. Quarterback Jared Goff threw five interceptions. Their powerful running attack of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery was largely shut down.
Despite that, the Lions fought back and scored 19 consecutive points to secure a last-second 26-23 victory.
It was a game they had no business winning. Had they lost to a good team on the road after falling behind by 16 in the second half, it would have been thoroughly understandable. Yet they battled back. This is a sign of an elite team.
Against Jacksonville, they should pile up the points and force Jones to turn the ball over. Although Detroit’s pass defense has been shaky, there is little Jones can do to exploit it. This game should not be much of a contest and could be, for all intents and purposes, over by halftime.
Jaguars vs Lions Prediction: Expect a Detroit Blowout
The Lions have been merciless like the jungle cat the team is named for. They have feasted on weaker teams posting 42 points against Seattle, 47 against Dallas, and 52 against Tennessee. Expect the same against the Jaguars who have been more prey than predator. That will not change in Detroit and the Lions will cover the two touchdown spread.
