Race Preview

The final race of the Triple Tiara series is set for Saratoga on June 5, as the 2026 Acorn Stakes will be staged. High-quality fillies throughout history, including superstars such as Thorpedo Anna, Gamine, and Monomoy Girl, have won this race.

Always A Runner will be a very solid favorite for the Chad Brown yard on Saturday. The Gun Runner filly was a dominant winner of the Kentucky Oaks at the start of May, extending her unbeaten record under rules to three. She looks to still be improving, and she will be very hard to beat if replicating her run from Churchill Downs.

Meaning will re-oppose the Oaks winner on Saturday. The Michael McCarthy filly lost little in defeat when runner-up at Churchill Downs, and the way in which she stayed on would indicate that the Gun Runner filly may relish this step up in distance at Saratoga.

Counting Stars ensures that the top three from the Oaks will all be in action this weekend. The Honor A.P. filly was two lengths behind Always A Runner, but she could be set to improve again. She was an excellent winner of the G2 Fantasy Stakes at the end of March.

Prom Queen could be the most interesting runner from the Oaks. The Brad Cox filly was never able to get in contention after being held up in the rear. The Quality Road filly had previously won the G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks. A return to form shouldn’t be dismissed.

Acorn Stakes Picks

A fascinating rematch of the Kentucky Oaks is set for Friday, and cases can be made for all four of the market leaders. However, Always A Runner looks like the standout filly this season, and she could take her form to the next level with a dominant success at Saratoga.
