The Sun and Fire meet for this second time this season on Wednesday. Once expected to be the leaders of the tank for JuJu Watkins, these teams are now headed in completely different directions.

The Sun fell to 1-7 on the season after a blowout loss to the Valkyries. It's been a really tough year for Suns fans who are watching their team sink to the bottom of the WNBA standings right before it's stripped for parts and sent to Houston. While any other bad team's fanbase has the silver lining that is dreaming about JuJu Watkins, all Connecticut fans have is this year. The players know that and will continue to fight for wins.
Previously expected to be the worst team in the WNBA, the 4-3 Fire are riding high into this matchup as the favorites after winning back-to-back road games in Toronto and New York. They return home to what is sure to be another rocking home crowd in the Fire Pit. With all the momentum in their favor, Portland just needs to avoid a slow start to risk another nail biter like their previous 83-82 win over the Sun just over a week ago.
After the previous matchup came down to a 1-point result, it's hard to say with confidence that the Fire will win this game. That being said, they appear to be improving rapidly with each game, one of the goals of head coach Alex Sarama's system. Meanwhile, the Suns are meandering, stuck in a limbo without much to fight for. Expect the Fire to pull away early in this one and never look back, as things get worse for Connecticut.
