The game was close early, as the Lynx led 24-22 after the first quarter. But the road team pulled away for good, courtesy of a 28-16 edge in the third quarter on its way to a double-digit win.
Natasha Howard delivered a solid performance, finishing with 26 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. Courtney Williams scored 17 points and collected eight rebounds. Minnesota held Chicago to 32 percent shooting overall and 21 percent from beyond the arc.
Strong fourth-quarter push propels Atlanta to a narrow victory over the Mercury
Like their opponent, the Dream have also gotten off to a solid start, winning four of their first five games. Their latest triumph was an 82-80 victory against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
Atlanta trailed by 12 points (25-13) through the first 10 minutes and by eight points entering the final frame. But an inspired 33-23 burst in the fourth propelled the home team to a dramatic two-point win.
Rhyne Howard led four double-digit scorers with 21 points on 7-for-15 shooting. She also snagged eight rebounds. Allisha Gray added 18, while Angel Reese posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
