An interesting renewal of the Tampa Bay Derby is set for this weekend, with 50 qualifying points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby up for grabs. A number of interesting form lines will be represented this weekend, including the Sam F. Davis.

The Gustavo Delgado runner was slightly below his best when third in the listed stakes race last time, but he could be competitive with that experience under his belt.

All eyes will likely be on Brad Cox-trained Further Ado this weekend after quickly gaining traction after back-to-back wins at the end of last year. Landed the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club on his latest start, and looks like a potential Derby hope for a top yard.

Redland Rebels and Roger That Dana will both require improvement after finishing second in the Kitten’s Joy and Mucho Macho Man, respectively. However, low draws could enhance their prospects of a finish in the money.

Canaletto recorded an eye-catching speed rating when winning at Gulfstream Park last time out, and that form could have considerable strength with the third since coming out to blow away a field four weeks later.

Plenty of runners deserve respect this weekend. However, I’m prepared to forgive Talkin’s no-show in the G2 Remsen last time. The Danny Gargan runner was an excellent second in the G1 Champagne before that, and a return following a break could see him in his best light on Saturday.
