A major clash with European implications is set for the Stadium of Light on May 24, as Chelsea travel to Sunderland on the final day of the Premier League season.

Black Cats Targeting Unlikely European Finish
Sunderland have enjoyed a memorable return to the Premier League, and they could yet end the campaign with an unlikely European finish. The Black Cats will be aiming to record successive wins for the third time this season, and they have shown excellent character throughout the campaign.
Sunderland have recovered a league-high 22 points from losing positions, which is the second-most of promoted sides in competition history. Dan Ballard will be missing due to suspension this weekend, while Granit Xhaka will play in the heart of the midfield.

Blues Aiming to End a Disappointing Campaign with Successive Wins
Chelsea have endured a miserable campaign, but things could be looking up after returning to winning ways against Tottenham in midweek. Victory against Spurs was achieved just days after Xabi Alonso’s appointment was confirmed. It was a much-needed win for Chelsea after going seven games without a win.
Scoring goals was an issue throughout that period, netting just twice in seven fixtures. Enzo Fernandez was in excellent form at Stamford Bridge, scoring once and registering one assist.

Sunderland vs. Chelsea Picks
Chelsea’s overall form in the second half of the season has been extremely weak, while Sunderland have been consistent at the Stadium of Light throughout the campaign. Therefore, a home win could be an interesting betting angle worth considering.
