Event Preview

The European action on the Formula 1 action continues at the Red Bull Ring on June 28, as Red Bull will have home-track advantage in their race to get their season back on track. This race has been held since 1963, and the drivers will complete 71 laps to make up the 307.018 km race distance.

Home advantage has been crucial for Red Bull in recent memory, with Max Verstappen winning the Austrian Grand Prix a record four times. However, the team has endured engine issues throughout the campaign, with their best finishes seeing Verstappen and Isack Hadjar finishing third.

Mercedes are clearly the team to catch in Austria, as Kimi Antonelli bid to extend his advantage at the top of the standings. The Italian teenager has been sensational in the first half of the season, and his growing hopes of championship glory were encapsulated in his win in Monaco.

George Russell will need to respond in Austria after a couple of poor results since finishing second in China. McLaren will also be aiming for better after retirements and failures to start Grand Prix have cost them vital points in the Constructors’ Championship battle already this season.

Ferrari may be the second-most competitive team on the grid at present, with Lewis Hamilton achieving podiums in three races already. Charles Leclerc has also finished on the podium on two occasions, but an increased race pace will be required to challenge for wins.

Austrian Grand Prix Picks

The Red Bull Ring will be perfectly suited to the Mercedes cars. But, we could foresee George Russell striking back in the championship battle at a track where he previously won in 2024.
