Event Preview

A major weekend of sporting action across North America is set for this weekend, with all eyes on Super Bowl LIX on Sunday evening. However, the PGA Tour action will whet the appetite for bettors, with the Phoenix Open being staged between Thursday and Sunday.

Scottie Scheffler’s return to action will make for a prominent betting selection. The American was one of the most dominant players on the PGA Tour last season, and he is a two-time winner of the Phoenix Open. The American will likely come on following a top-ten finish on his return to action in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last weekend.

Sam Burns has been a consistent performer on the PGA Tour over the last two seasons. The American continued his excellent run of form at Pebble Beach last weekend after concluding the weekend going one-under on the final day. He has some strong performances at this course to his name, and is one worth consideration.

Tom Kim also caught the eye at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am last weekend. Kim finished in a tie for seventh, and was just five shots off the lead. Not for the first time, he ended the tournament in strong style, finishing two-under in the final round to take his tournament tally to 16-under.

Phoenix Open Picks

It was a weekend to forget for Hideki Matsuyama last weekend, he finished down in a tie for 48th. However, his overall form this season remains strong. He is also worth second consideration this weekend after winning the Phoenix Open on two previous occasions.
