Predators vs Golden Knights Preview

Golden Knights Surge To Summit

The Vegas Golden Knights have enjoyed a fine couple of weeks, as they have swiftly moved to the top of the Pacific Division. However, staying in that position will be their aim in the second half of the season. Vegas have won seven of their previous ten games, but have been beaten on three occasions, which also incudes a first overtime defeat of the season. Still, Vegas are flourishing at the top end of the ice, as they are the highest scorers in the Western Conference, having found the net an incredible 127 times already in the 35 games that they have played.

However, the Golden Knights will be looking to respond following a 12th defeat of the season in their last outing. Vegas were beaten in overtime by the Winnipeg Jets, despite being 2-0 ahead after the first period. Mattias Janmark scored twice to lead Vegas, while Michael Amadio and Evgenii Dadonov also scored in the narrow defeat. However, it would be unwise to bet against the Golden Knights responding.

Predators Primed For Challenge

The Nashville Predators have enjoyed a fine start to the season, and have won more games than any other franchise in the Central Division. They have won one more game than the St. Louis Blues, who are currently sitting top of the standings. However, the Predators could replace the Blues at the summit should they pick up a victory against the Golden Knights on Tuesday evening.

Nashville have won eight of their last ten games, and have the second best defensive record in the Western Conference at this stage of the season. The Predators won their eighth game in ten on their last outing, as they hammered the Chicago Blackhawks. Tanner Jeannot scored twice in the comprehensive 6-1 victory, while Nick Cousins, Roman Josi and Filip Forsberg also got in on the act on a famous night for the Predators.

Recent Meetings

Vegas have enjoyed a dominance in this fixture in recent years, as they have won the last three meetings against the Predators. During that run, Vegas have scored 12 goals and have conceded just five.

Predators vs Golden Knights Pick

Both sides are playing some of their best hockey of the season at present, which makes it fairly difficult to separate these sides. However, the home record that the Golden Knights have is a pivotal factor to consider here, and we find it very hard to see past Vegas getting back to winning ways and reasserting their dominance at the top of the standings.
