Game Preview

Citizens’ Defense Leading the Way

Guardiola’s team has been very confident in the recent few weeks. They won the past three games, allowing only one goal. When looking further back, City kept a clean sheet in four of the past five and seven of the previous 10 games.

During that stretch, Guardiola’s machinery won in seven events; two ended with a draw, and they lost the single one, at home vs. Tottenham, 2-3. The most recent clash was against Atletico Madrid in the UCL at Etihad, and the hosts 1-0.

They were dominant throughout all 90 minutes and eventually broke the lock of the Spanish side. It was tough, but the Citizens never lost their focus and kept on grinding.

Liverpool’s Superb Stretch

Since January 9, the Reds played 20 games, losing only one and playing one without winners. All others ended with Liverpool’s victory. That single defeat was at home against Inter Milan, but it didn’t hurt Klopp’s crew because it of a confident win in the opening leg.

L’Pool has five consecutive triumphs, with only one allowed goal during that stretch. The Reds’ defense is flawless these days, posting 10 clean sheets in the previous 14 contests.

Liverpool is extremely confident away from home with nine straight triumphs, in seven of them netting twice or more.

Head to Head Games

The first meeting of the year ended 2-2. It took place at Anfield, and the hosts had the lead twice, but Man City managed to come back and level the score each time.

We need to say that four of the last five direct meetings saw either both teams scoring, or over 3.5 goals.

Prediction

When City and Liverpool meet, there are usually a lot of goals. We saw that in recent history. We truly believe that this event won’t be any different from the previous ones. Even though the respective defenses are pretty strong and play well, the offensive potential on both ends is terrific. That is why we want to suggest betting on both teams to score and over 2.5 goals. For those who want a bit riskier pick, over 1.5 goals in the opening half is the best choice.

Pick: Over 2.5 goals
