Offensively Strong Dutch to Shine

The Netherlands are regarded as one of the most interesting dark horses at this year’s World Cup, but they could face a fight to qualify from Group F. Following their opening match against Japan, the Dutch will be hoping to showcase their attacking talent against Sweden.

Ronald Koeman’s side were clinical during qualifying, scoring an impressive 27 goals in their eight fixtures.

Donyell Malen’s form will be a huge positive to their chances, with the forward netting an impressive 14 goals in 18 appearances for Roma at the end of last season. Memphis Depay should be fit enough to feature and the striker has scored 55 goals in 109 internationals.

Sweden to Show Defensive Resilience

Sweden’s path to the World Cup endured mixed fortunes, as they relied on their Nations League performances after winning just two of their eight qualifiers.

Defensive improvement will be required if they are to challenge for a knockout spot, as Sweden have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eleven matches. They have also allowed five goals in their last two.

Graham Potter does have world-class attacking talent at his disposal, with Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres both expected to start. The latter scored 20 goals in all competitions for Arsenal last season.

Netherlands vs. Sweden Pick

Sweden’s poor defensive record makes them vulnerable against the Netherlands. Therefore, we expect the Dutch to record a big-scoring win to move closer to securing their spot in the next round of the World Cup.
