There are few sporting events like Royal Ascot, as the worlds of fashion and elite sport collide during the five-day meeting. King Charles will be in attendance throughout the week, while superstar equines from across the world will be in action in Group One races.
You can find our Day 1 and Day 2 picks on the site, but here, you can find our selection for key Group Ones later in the week, including our Royal Ascot picks for the featured Gold Cup on June 18.
Royal Ascot Best Picks
Group One Ascot Gold Cup (June 18 @ 11:15 AM ET)
The featured race of the week comes in the form of the Group One Ascot Gold Cup. An unusual test will see the field compete across two miles and four furlongs. Kyprios has been the dominant force in the staying division in recent memory, but Aidan O’Brien could have a new star.
Scandinavia was scintillating at the end of last season when winning the G1 St. Leger, and his progress as an older horse has already caught the eye after achieving back-to-back wins at Navan and Leopardstown.
Sired by American legend Justify, the four-year-old has already proven his staying ability, beating the high-class Illinois by just under a length in the G1 Goodwood Cup. Very hard to oppose, and is my best bet at Royal Ascot this year.

Group One Commonwealth Cup (June 19 @ 10:05 AM ET)
Standout action over six furlongs kicks off the Group One action on June 19, and a talented field will be involved in the Commonwealth Cup. Aidan O’Brien will be chasing a second win in the race, while American trainer Wesley Ward will be represented by Outfielder.
However, Venetian Sun is the most eye-catching entry for a Karl Burke team that is looking for a second win in the race.
The three-year-old failed to see out the trip in the 1000 Guineas, but she quickly got back on track with a three-length demolition in the G2 Sandy Lane Stakes. Is extremely exciting over this distance, and could be a potential superstar.

Group One Coronation Stakes (June 19 @ 11:20 AM ET)
The feature on Day 4 at Royal Ascot is the G1 Coronation Stakes, featuring fillies aged three competing over a mile. True Love should be respected after winning the 1000 Guineas at the start of last month.
But, So Regal could be a filly that is still improving for the John & Thady Gosden team. The Kingman filly was impressive at the start of May when winning over course and distance, easily putting two lengths between herself and Crownright. She didn’t handle York last time, and drifted in the closing stages when second behind Lilt in the Listed Michael Seely Stakes.
A return to Ascot is a big plus, and she could be overlooked in the betting now stepping up in grade.
