Smith will be on the comeback trail after seeing his winning run of results ended in September last year following a tenth-round TKO loss against Chris Eubank Jr. A victory in that fight would have put the Brit back in line for a world title bout, but he will now need to start again.
Smith has won 33 of his 38 professional bouts, with 20 of his victories being recorded by knockout. His striking power has been evident in recent years after stopping Anthony Fowler, Jessie Vargas, and Eubank Jr since the start of 2021. Josh Kelly will stand opposite Smith at Wembley Stadium next month, and he will be looking to further his reputation as one of the brightest emerging stars in the division. The Brit has won 15 of his 17 professional bouts, with his only career defeat being suffered in London by TKO when challenging David Avanesyan for the European welterweight title in 2021.
Since that defeat, he has returned to form, winning the British light middleweight title following a success against Troy Williamson in December 2022, and later adding the WBO International super welterweight title with a win over Gabriel Alberto Corzo. Kelly was last in action in December when stopped Placido Ramirez in the third round.
