Major College Football Rivalry

With so many games to turn to today, it’s difficult to pick just one. But I decided to go with a monster rivalry game in college football between the Michigan Wolverines and Penn State Nittany Lions. This is a monster Big Ten game between two national title contenders.

The Michigan Wolverines are the road team here, and also the large underdog. The Wolverines are nearly a double digit underdog in Happy Valley. Michigan is 5-1 on the season, and coming off an overtime win over Indiana. The Wolverines lone loss this season was at home to the divisional and state rival Michigan State Spartans. The Wolverines come into the game ranked 19th in the latest Associated Press poll.

For the Penn State Nittany Lions, they have moved up to the #2 ranked team in all of College Football. The only team ranked ahead of them in the poll was the Alabama Crimson Tide. Penn State is 6-0 on the season, with just one competitive game. The Nittany Lions needed all 60 minutes to take down the Iowa Hawkeyes earlier in the season in Iowa City. Penn State is -9.5 over Michigan in this game at most of our favorite offshore sportsbooks.

Franklin Guiding Penn State

The Nittany Lions are the best ranked defensive team in all of college football. The Nittany Lions are allowing just 9 points per game. In the 6 games played this season, Penn State has not allowed 20 points or more in any game. In the games outside of the road win at Iowa, the Nittany Lions are winning by an average of 37 points per game.

The Nittany Lions have one of the top offensive players in all of college football. Saquan Barkley has been outstanding as the leading running back. Barkley has rushed for more than 645 yards on the season, and has caught 29 passes for nearly 400 yards and 2 touchdowns. Penn State as a team is passing for 291 yards per game, and rushing for an additional 165.

Wolverines Need Signature Win

Coach Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines know they have to win this game to have any chance at a national title. The Wolverines will need to get more offensive, as they are scoring just 27.2 points per game. The defense has been pretty elite for another season, as they are 8th in college football, allowing just shy of 15 points per game.

The Wolverines on the offensive side have struggled to pass the football. Michigan is averaging just 191 passing yards per game. The Wolverines will see a softer schedule in their next three as they host Rutgers, Minnesota, and then go out on the road to take on the Maryland Terrapins, before finishing against Wisconsin and Ohio State.

Take the Wolverines on the Road

This should be a great football game. Look for the talent of Michigan to stay competitive in this game. The Wolverines will do what they can to limit and keep Barkley out of the end zone. Michigan covers the spread, but Penn State moves on with another win. Bet Michigan +9.5 over Penn State at MyBookie.
