Ecuador will be aiming to build momentum at the FIFA World Cup on matchday 2 in Group E when they take on Curacao in Kansas City.
The South Americans were one of the best defensive teams in qualification, but they will need to show their offensive prowess to overpower the minnows in Group E on June 20.

Ecuador is one of the dark horse selections for the World Cup for many this summer, and La Tri will be aiming to showcase their talent on MD2 against Curacao.
The national team have been excellent over the last 18 months, with their reliable record built on the strength of their defensive record. Their attacking players will be handed an opportunity to shine against lowly-ranked Curacao, but they should be capable after scoring five in their previous two.
Kevin Rodríguez is one of the fastest-growing stars on the team, with the striker scoring an impressive ten goals in 31 matches for Union Saint-Gilloise last term. Enner Valencia is the experienced star in the team, scoring 49 in 105 international appearances.

Curacao have already exceeded all expectations to reach the World Cup, but there is an expectation that they will crash out of the competition in the group stage.
They have struggled against higher-ranked nations throughout 2026, conceding at least two goals in defeats against China, Australia, and Scotland. Meanwhile, their only strong attacking display was produced against lowly-ranked Aruba.
Sontje Hansen will be a threat on the counterattack, with the pacey winger registering ten goal involvements in the last two seasons.
Ecuador will prove too strong for Curacao on MD2 in Group E. We fully expect the South Americans to record a comfortable win to set up a mouth-watering final day matchup against Germany.
