The second day of the world-famous Royal Ascot meeting will feature four group races, as well as the competitive Royal Hunt Cup.
It could be a valuable day of betting for punters, with the high-quality G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes likely to attract some of the best middle distance horses on the planet. All the action will be broadcast on NBC, and you can find our Royal Ascot Day 2 picks here.
Royal Ascot Day 2 Picks
Group Two Queen Mary Stakes Preview & Best Bet
- Class: Group Two
- Distance: 5 Furlongs
- Time: 9:30 AM ET
The opening race at Royal Ascot Day 2 will be a blink-and-you-miss-it contest over a sharp five furlongs in the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes.
Karl Burke has an impressive record in this race, training two of the last four winners. Therefore, Wild Blossom could be a standout selection. The two-year-old by Mehmas was an eye-catching winner on debut at Carlisle at the end of last month, easily beating a decent-looking field by a ten-length margin.
An improvement on that form will make her incredibly hard to catch in this big field.

Group One Prince of Wales’s Stakes Preview & Best Bet
- Class: Group One
- Distance: 1 Mile 2 Furlongs
- Time: 11:20 AM ET
The feature on Day 2 at Royal Ascot is the G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes, which feature two of the best turf horses in training. Daryz was the winner of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe last year, and the French-trained runner is favorite to retain his title in 2026.
However, previous course and distance form could ensure that Ombudsman is the balance play. The John & Thady Gosden-trained runner was excellent when winning this race 12 months ago, and he has remained in excellent form this year with back-to-back wins in group company.
Almaqam could be a value play to battle the market leaders.

Royal Hunt Cup Preview & Best Bet
- Class: Heritage Handicap
- Distance: 1 Mile
- Time: 1:00 PM ET
The most competitive betting heat on Day 2 at Royal Ascot will be the big-fielded Royal Hunt Cup. Plenty will have obvious claims in this race over a mile, but at a price, it could be worth taking a chance on Altareq.
Lauren Young retains the ride on the four-year-old, who has been competitive on both starts since joining the Jim Goldie yard. He was excellent over an extended mile when beaten by Diego Ventura last time, but this drop back down to a mile is a key plus.
The draw will be crucial to his chances, but this four-year-old son of Frankel is still improving.
