The surging Lynx remain red-hot behind rookie firepower

Minnesota was 2-2 following an 86-79 loss to the Chicago Sky on May 17. Since then, the team has reeled off six consecutive wins. The latest triumph was an 87-84 victory against the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday night.

The Lynx ripped off 11 unanswered points to take an 81-75 lead before Golden State pulled within 86-84 with 33.8 seconds left to play. Courtney Williams split a pair of free throws, giving the road team an opportunity to send the game into an extra frame. Fortunately, Cecilia Zandalasini's 3-point attempt was off the mark when the game buzzer expired, securing the win for Minnesota.

Rookie guard Olivia Miles had a spectacular performance, finishing with 28 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and three blocked shots. She also set a WNBA rookie record with eight made 3-pointers, going 8-for-11 from distance. The Lynx improved to 7-0 against Golden State and will look to ride this momentum against a struggling Seattle Squad.

The Storm continue to search for answers after another narrow loss

Seattle was a respectable 3-4 through its first seven games, but things have tailed off a bit since then. In fact, the team has dropped each of its last four outings, including a 72-68 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday.

The Storm trailed 68-61 at the 2:39 mark in the fourth quarter. Although the home team pulled within one possession multiple times in the final 20 seconds, Phoenix's Kahleah Copper went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe down the stretch to help the Mercury hold on for a four-point win.

Awa Fam powered the offense with 18 points and six rebounds. Natisha Hiedeman added 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists for a Seattle squad that shot 38 percent overall and 27 percent from long range.

  • Minnesota is 5-1 ATS in its last six outings.
  • The Storm are 1-4 (SU) in their previous five contests.
