Mexico and South Korea meet in a intriguing Group A clash. Mexico enters as the favorite with high hopes to make a deep run. They need to first avoid an upset against a capable South Korea team.

Mexico will have the advantage of playing this game in their own country in front of thousands of fans. It's a notable advantage for a squad that found themselves on the wrong side of a stacked group during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The 32-team format this time around is more forgiving and a gives a team like Mexico a chance to finish 3rd in the group and still advance. Still, the easiest path is to win their games like this one.
South Korea enters this game as the underdog, despite advancing further than Mexico in the last rendition of the World Cup. In the one before that, back in 2018, Mexico got the best of South Korea in a head-to-head group stage victory. In order to get revenge for that game, South Korea needs to be at their absolute best, particularly on offense where they'll need to keep up with Mexico's high-flying attack and speedy roster.
Mexico and South Korea are bound to play a close, competitive game in this matchup. This one could end up with big implications, so both squads will be chasing an early goal to get into a good position. Mexico's home-field advantage is sure to make a difference, but they are also vulnerable to a consistent and disciplined team like South Korea. When all is said and done, I see this one being a tie the likes of 1-1 or 2-2.
