LA Has Righted Its Ship After a Brief Stumble

The Dodgers have won 7 of 8 after an uncharacteristic 4-game losing streak. The last three games were against their top challenger in the NL West, the Padres. They won 2 of 3.

For their NL Central 1st place counterparts, the Brewers, they send lefty Justin Wrobleski to the mound.

But for one start, Wrobleski has been excellent. Even that game in which he gave up 7 earned runs needs to be put in the proper context. Against the Braves, Wrobleski gave LA's bullpen a much-needed break by tossing 8.2 innings. He did surrender those runs, but it was a team-centric performance.

Overall, he's tossed 50.2 innings, allowed 40 hits and 14 earned runs, walking 12 and striking out 27. Wrobleski keeps the ball in the park, having allowed 2 homers this season.

Mookie Betts is back from the injured list and is starting to heat up despite his average still stuck below .200. Andy Pages is leading the NL with a 2.9 bWAR. He has 10 homers and leads MLB in RBI. Kyle Tucker is hitting better after a terrible start with an OPS approaching .750. Shohei Ohtani has 8 homers and isn't as dangerous at the plate as he's been in the past, but a hot streak is inevitable.

No LA hitter has ever faced Logan Henderson in a regular season game in the majors.

The Brewers Have Won 11 of 13

After a mediocre start, the Brewers have gotten blazing hot. They just swept the Cubs to take over 1st place in the NL Central.

Milwaukee sends Logan Henderson to the mound for the first game of this key series hosting the Dodgers. In 4 starts this season, he's tossed 18 innings, allowed 16 hits and 7 earned runs, walking 3 and striking out 23. He throws strikes and keeps the ball in the park.

The Brewers are getting back to what they did in 2025, winning the most games in the majors before ultimately losing the NLCS to the Dodgers in a sweep.

William Contreras has a .755 OPS. Jake Bauers has an .860 OPS and 7 homers. Brice Turang leads the NL in on-base percentage and has hit 7 homers. Christian Yelich has been hitting well since returning from the injured list. His average is at .270 and his OPS sits at .798.

Against Wrobleski, Yelich is 1 for 2 with a home run. Turang is 1 for 2 with a single. Blake Perkins is 1 for 2 with a single. Jackson Chourio is 0 for 2 with a walk.

Dodgers vs Brewers Pick

It's still early, so this series isn't make or break. However, the Brewers would like to show the Dodgers that they are not the easy mark they were in the 2025 NLCS. Henderson has pitched well, but cannot be counted on to get beyond the 5th inning. Wrobleski has been excellent all year.

While LA has played better after their losing streak, they are not hitting up to their standard. Milwaukee will take the opener of their 3-game series behind Henderson and keep their hot streak going.
