One of the games on Tuesday’s WNBA slate features the New York Liberty hosting the Atlanta Dream. Which of these Eastern Conference squads has the edge in our Liberty vs Dream pick?
New York Aims To Get Back Into The Win Column
The Liberty won their first nine games. However, they saw that win streak end with a 102-88 defeat at the hands of the Indiana Fever on Saturday.
Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart were the top performers for New York. Ionescu scored a team-high 34 points and handed out four assists. Stewart added 24 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
Following a 9-0 run, the Liberty held a 59-53 lead early in the third quarter before Indiana responded with a 19-0 surge to take an 80-71 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Ionescu knocked down a pair of free throws to get New York within 85-82, but Indiana seized control for good with a 14-2 run, securing the victory for the home team.
Dream Hope To Push Win Streak To Four Games
One of the lowlights of the Dream’s season was an 84-76 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Jun. 6. Since that setback, Atlanta has won its last three contests, including an 89-56 victory over the Washington Mystics on Sunday.
Allisha Gray led the way with a solid, all-around game that included 32 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Gray also converted six of her nine attempts from 3. Te-Hina Paopao and Naz Hillmon led the second unit with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
Already leading 45-34 at the break, Atlanta broke the game open with a 16-0 run en route to outscoring the Mystics by a 44-22 margin in the second half, including a 23-10 advantage in the third quarter.
Liberty vs Dream WNBA Pick
The Liberty lead the field in offensive and defensive efficiency. Meanwhile, the Dream are ranked third in both scoring and points allowed.
Although both teams play at a high level at both ends of the court, New York has won four of the five previous meetings between the franchises, and that trend is expected to continue when these ball clubs square off on Tuesday night.
