Western Conference action in the MLS is set for May 16, as the Seattle Sounders welcome the LA Galaxy to Lumen Field.
The Sounders have been in red-hot recent form, ensuring that they have closed the gap on the summit to five points. Meanwhile, the Galaxy will be hoping for a response following a disappointing midweek loss.

We flagged up the Seattle Sounders as our Western Conference pick at the start of the season, and their consistency in the season’s opening months has been excellent. They have avoided defeat in their previous nine fixtures, most recently showing their attacking quality in a 3-2 home win over in-form San Jose.
The Sounders dominated the clash, recording 15 shots and showing efficiency with seven efforts on target. Goals in the win were scored by Albert Rusnak, Jesus Ferreira, and Osaze De Rosario.

Last season was a huge disappointment for the LA Galaxy, but they look back on track in 2026. The Galaxy have shown excellent character since the start of April, losing just three of their last seven. They had also gone three games without a defeat before their midweek trip to Sporting KC. Therefore, the Galaxy will need to bounce back to form this weekend after being outplayed.
However, it could be worth noting that the Galaxy did still create a vast number of chances in that defeat, registering seven shots on target. However, they will need to be more clinical against the Sounders if they are to at least earn a point at Lumen Field.

The Sounders have been one of the most reliable teams in the Western Conference this season, and they are challenging to overlook. Seattle have won four of their five at Lumen Field, and they have also avoided defeat in 22 of their last 28 home fixtures against the Galaxy.
