- Vancouver Whitecaps saw their unbeaten run end last weekend
- San Diego are unbeaten in their previous four games
Western Conference action is set for the Snapdragon Stadium in the final round of fixtures before the start of the FIFA World Cup. But, can the Vancouver Whitecaps bounce back to form following a recent defeat when they travel to San Diego?
The hosts should bring confidence into this clash after avoiding defeat in their previous four games, but they will likely need to improve defensively to upset the odds.
DATE & TIME
San Diego Showing Signs of Improvement
The playoff dream may be back alive for San Diego in 2026 after ending a long winless run against Austin FC on May 13. However, wins have still been in short supply for the franchise this season, winning just once in their previous ten.
Defensive issues were once again their Achilles heel last time out, as they conceded three times in a home draw against FC Cincinnati. Their inability to hold onto a lead was ultimately decisive, as Marcus Ingvartsen’s 95th-minute goal was eventually canceled out by Tom Barlow just two minutes later.

Whitecaps Aiming to Bounce Back
The Vancouver Whitecaps missed a golden opportunity to extend their advantage at the top of the Western Conference last weekend, as they were shockingly beaten by the Houston Dynamo.
Consistency may be a slight concern this weekend, as the Caps have now failed to win in three of their last four. All matches over that period have come on the road. Defensive improvement will be required on Saturday, as Vancouver have conceded at least once in all five of their away matches in 2026.

San Diego vs. Vancouver Picks
Vancouver are unbeaten on their last two trips to the Snapdragon Stadium, and their excellent offensive quality should ensure that they bounce back from a shock loss last weekend. Their chances are enhanced based on San Diego’s poor defensive record this term, as they have allowed 1.64 goals per game.
