Jordan is facing the cusp of elimination after a rocky start to the World Cup. Things won't get any easier down the stretch, as the prepare to face off with the defending champions in Argentina. After allowing Austria to find net three times, Jordan will need their defense to formulate a complete turnaround to have a chance at stopping Messi and Argentina's offensive onslaught. It will be a huge challenge for them.
Argentina continued their momentum from a 2024 FIFA World Cup championship, as 38-year-old superstar (39 at the time of this match) Lionel Messi earned the tournament's first hat trick. Don't expect Argentina to take the breaks off in this game, even if they lock down a spot in the knockout round before it. They'll be aiming to claim the 1J spot and an ideal path to fighting for back-to-back championships.
Argentina is heavily favored to win against Jordan after the two squads had opposite results in their opening matches. It's hard to imagine a path to victory for Jordan, though they have the ability to force a draw if they play their best defensive football. Ultimately, this isn't a great line to bet on, but the smartest play in this matchup is to trust Lionel Messi and the defending champions to earn another victory.
