One of the games on Sunday’s NBA slate features the Golden State Warriors hosting the Houston Rockets. Can Golden State extend its winning streak to six games in our Warriors vs Rockets pick?
Warriors Aiming For Sixth Consecutive Victory
Following back-to-back losses against the Atlanta Hawks (124-115) and the Miami Heat (112-86), the Warriors enter this conference tilt riding a five-game winning streak. Their latest triumph includes a 118-104 victory against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.
Stephen Curry, who has topped at least 35 points in his last three outings, finished with 36 points and connected on seven of his 15 attempts from beyond the arc. The four-time NBA champion also tallied five assists and two steals.
Denver started hot, putting up 44 points in the opening quarter and jumping out to a 10-point lead. But the Warriors got on track over the next two quarters, outscoring the Nuggets by a decisive 62-40 margin during that game-changing stretch.
Houston Enters This Matchup Following An Impressive Showing Against OKC
After dropping a 104-98 decision to the Los Angeles Lakers on Mar. 31, the Rockets enter this matchup amid a two-game winning streak, including an impressive 125-111 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
Jalen Green was one of four starters who reached double figures. He led the way with 34 points, five assists, and four rebounds on 11-of-24 shooting from the floor.
Rockets big man Alperen Sengun poured in 31 points and handed out six assists. Amen Thompson and Fred VanVleet chipped in with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
Houston’s 23-point lead dwindled to just nine points in the fourth quarter. However, Green scored five points during a 7-2 run that pushed the Rockets’ lead back to 14 points.
The Thunder were unable to get within single digits down the stretch.
Warriors vs Rockets Pick: Who Has The Edge In This Conference Showdown?
The Warriors have gone 7-3 in their last 10 contests. While they are not an offensive juggernaut by any means (ranked 18th in scoring), this group is a top-10 defensive team, holding the opposition to 110.8 points per game.
On the other hand, the Rockets have produced eight wins across their previous 10 outings. Houston enters this matchup ranked 14th in offensive rating and fourth in defensive efficiency, allowing 110.0 points per 100 possessions.
The Rockets are the second-best team in the Western Conference. However, Golden State has won six of the last seven matchups between these franchises, including three of the four meetings this season. With that in mind, look for the Warriors to win, albeit by a slim margin.
