  • The Oklahoma City Thunder, fighting for the best record in the league, visit Minnesota
  • The Timberwolves are 7th in the West, jockeying for playoff position
  • The teams split their two previous matchups with Minnesota winning on Feb. 13

The Minnesota Timberwolves (31-26) and 7th in the West host the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC is riding high at 45-10, safely ensconced as the West’s top seed. They are chasing Cleveland for the best record in the NBA.

The teams met in the last game before the All-Star break with the T-Wolves winning 116-101. Naz Reid led the way for Minnesota with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Anthony Edwards chipped in 23.

This is the first game of a home-and-home between OKC and Minnesota. Who will we pick in the first of back-to-back games between the teams?

Oklahoma Has Its Eyes on Playoff Success

In its first game after the break, OKC blew out Utah 130-107. Overall, they have won 8 of 9 with the sole loss coming in Minnesota.

OKC came out swinging to start the second half of the season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leads the NBA in PPG and scored 21 against Utah. The Thunder have been lighting up the scoreboard and are currently in the top five in the league in PPG. They are in the top 10 in 3-pointers. Head coach Mike Daigneault has his squad primed for a second-half run and a shot at a championship.

T-Wolves Among 5 Teams Battling For Playoff Seeding

Minnesota is in a mosh pit in the Western Conference. There is a five-game separation in the standings between the 6th-seeded LA Clippers and the 11th-seeded Suns. The T-Wolves have been consistent in the inconsistency following a three-game win streak by losing three of four.

They opened the second half with a 121-115 loss to the Rockets in Houston.

Anthony Edwards scored 37 in the loss but was only 13 for 32 from the field (4 for 14 from 3-point range). Minnesota is in the bottom third in PPG. They are, however, solid defensively. Rebounding has been an issue and there is growing concern over Rudy Gobert’s back. He has been inactive since the previous game against OKC. They are also missing Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.

Thunder vs Timberwolves Pick: OKC Will Overwhelm Minnesota

The T-Wolves are too banged up and OKC is undoubtedly looking for some revenge after the Feb. 13 loss. Although Minnesota is known as a sound defensive squad, the lack of rebounding and the Thunder’s scoring power will give OKC a relatively easy win on the road.
