One of the games on Sunday’s NBA slate features the Denver Nuggets hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4 of a second-round Western Conference playoff series. Will Denver go up 3-1 against the league’s top team in our Nuggets vs Thunder pick?
Nuggets-Thunder Game 3 Recap
After getting their heads handed to them in Game 2, the Nuggets responded, defeating the Thunder 113-104 in Game 3.
Denver’s offense placed four of its starters in double figures. Jamal Murray led the way with 27 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and four steals.
Aaron Gordon put together another solid, all-around game, finishing with 22 points, eight boards, and five dimes on 7-for-11 shooting overall and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
On the other side of the matchup, Jalen Williams had his best game of the series thus far. He scored a team-high 32 points and knocked down three of his seven attempts from 3-point range.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander chimed in with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. Chet Holmgren contributed 18 points and 16 rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
The Nuggets trailed most of the night and never led by more than two points. However, they outscored the Thunder 11-2 in overtime, limiting them to just one score on nine possessions.
Nuggets vs Thunder Pick: Does Denver Go Up 3-1, Or Will OKC Even The Series?
Despite pulling off an overtime win two nights ago, the Nuggets enter this matchup as a 6.5-point underdog, according to BetOnline. Looking ahead to Game 4, here are some notable trends for both sides.
- The Nuggets are 12-6 straight-up (SU) in their last 18 games played in May.
- Denver has covered the spread five times in its previous seven contests, going 5-1-1 during that stretch.
- The Thunder are 9-2 overall in their last 11 outings.
- Oklahoma City is 2-4 against the spread in its previous six matchups against the Nuggets.
Although OKC led by nine points in the first quarter, the contest was a back-and-forth battle the rest of the way. If that theme unfolds again, the Thunder will learn from their miscues and send the series back to Oklahoma City knotted at two games apiece.
