G2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes (R13- 5:44 PM ET)
The G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes is a key prep on the Road to the Kentucky Derby, with the most recent winner of both races being Orb in 2013.
River Thames and Sovereignty both hold very solid claims, and will be deserving of their places toward the top of the betting. However, I’m a huge fan of Burnham Square, and I already believe he is a sleeper pick in the Derby betting.
The three-year-old is by Liam’s Map and our of a Scat Daddy mare. he has won two from four career starts for Ian Wilkes, and was very eye-catching when stepping up to 1 1/16 miles. He opened his account over the trip on the second attempt when beating Only In America to register a speed figure of 112.
Another major step forward was taken when landing the G3 Holy Bull over course and distance last month. Further improvement is on the cards, and his place among the leading Derby hopefuls will be secured this weekend.

G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes (R14- 6:14 PM ET)
The attention switches to action on turf for the G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes at 6:14 PM ET. This race covers a distance of 1 3/8 miles, and a field of 12 will go to post.
Dashman had a few of these behind him when landing the G3 William L. McKnight Stakes, including Cathkin Peak (sixth), Anglophile (tenth), and Cash Equity (second).
Sugoi is a solid contender based on his win in the John B. Connally Turf Cup win, and Frankie Dettori is an eye-catching booking. Grand Sonata should also be respected now down in grade after an eighth in the G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf.
However, Missed The Cut is a very interesting contender. The six-year-old was a respectable ninth in the G2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last year, and has proven graded form in the book after finishing second behind Silver Knott in the Elkhorn.
He has already won at stakes level after landing the G3 San Marcos and G3 San Luis Rey early last year. Has been revelation since switching to turf, and demands plenty of respect.
