The most famous song contest on the planet is back on May 17, 2025, as the 69th edition of Eurovision will be staged in Switzerland.

This year’s contest promises to have something for everyone, with sauna anthems and the reimagining of Laika, the Soviet space dog, among the themes involved in some of the entries. You can find the odds and picks for the pop extravaganza here.

How Does Eurovision Work?

The Eurovision party kicks into gear on Tuesday and Thursday, as the two semi-finals will be held in Switzerland.

However, the Big 5 nations (France, UK, Spain, Italy, and Germany) automatically qualify for the final. In the semi-finals, the top ten-scoring nations from each night will earn their spot in the Grand Final on Saturday.

A total of 26 nations will compete in the final on Saturday, with the eventual winners being crowned after the public vote and professional juries’ votes have been combined.

Eurovision Leading Contenders

Eurovision is a huge deal in some countries across Europe, but it could be argued that is mostly the case in Sweden. This year, the nation has placed their faith in Finnish comedy group, KAJ. Their song ‘Sauna’ will do exceptionally well in the public vote, but it is unlikely to do as well with the professionals.

Austria also rank among the leading contenders, as they bid for a third success at the Contest. The nation will be represented by Johannes Pietsch this year, and his creative staging and catchy ‘Wasted Love’ is likely to achieve consistent points across both formats.

Pop anthems are expected to do extremely well this year, with Ireland’s Laika Party, a song about the dog sent to space by Russia, a left-field prediction for many to do well.

France haven’t won Eurovision since 1977, but Louane’s ‘Maman’, a song about the singer’s conversation with her cancer-stricken mother, could change their fortunes.

Eurovision 2025 Picks

I have a solid record when making Eurovision bets, predicting the winners in each of the last three. The top two are opposable in the betting, with Austria’s entry sounding very similar to Nemo’s winning effort last year, and Sweden’s uncertain to achieve points with the professionals.

Therefore, we like two outsiders. Albania’s electro-pop effort has ranked well in Eurovision polls before the event, and should do well in the televote and with the jury. Finland is the main win play, and Erika Vikman will rock the stage in Switzerland.

The stage show will catch the attention of viewers, and her vocals ensure that she will score well with the jury. At a big price, Ukraine could be a top-five contender for those looking for an each-way angle.
