Forbes regularly assesses the most valuable sports franchise in the world, with the results from the survey released late in the calendar year. The betting is now open for the team that will top the 2024 rankings, with some of the biggest franchises in the world ranking among the most prominent.
Before Betting On World’s Most Valuable Sports Franchise
The World’s Most Valuable Sports Franchise is a report put together annually by American magazine Forbes, taking into account the figures from teams in competitions such as the NFL, NBA, and the Premier League. Since its inception, only three teams have ranked as the most valuable, with the Dallas Cowboys dominating the recent rankings.
The NFL franchise became the first to surpass the $4 billion mark, and the value of the team has continued to reach new heights throughout recent history. They continued their dominance at the top of the rankings in 2023, becoming the first franchise to be valued at over $9 billion. In fact, six of the top eight in the 2023 rankings were NFL teams.
Famous franchises that also ranked high last year included the New York Yankees and the Golden State Warriors, which were just two of the other four teams that were valued at more than $7 billion. Soccer teams dominated the rankings for much of the early history, with Man United topping the rankings between 2010 and 2012.
Real Madrid were deemed to be the most valuable sports franchise in every year between 2013 and 2015. However, Los Blancos dropped to eleventh in the rankings last year, with United dropping to joint 13th in the standings after being valued at $6 billion.
